Professor Miriam Biton, member of the Bar Ilan Law Faculty is one of several experts signed on a position paper submitted to the Justice Ministry urging it to reconsider its decision to amend Israeli copyright regulations. The suggested amendment includes a 100 thousand NIS fine for anyone who attempts to bypass technology designed to block the download of files over the internet. The experts’ opinion is that the stringent laws will allows those who own the copyright benefits to further benefit while dealing a significant blow to the Israeli consumer and economy as a whole.
