LL.B. and LL.M.

Joined program leading to LL.B. and LL.M. (without a thesis) that can be completed in four years.
1 Admission Requirements
(a) Students who began their studies at the Faculty of Law of Bar-Ilan University and have achieved an average of at least 85 in their first year of study can apply for the program. Students who began their studies at the Faculty of Law at a more advanced level, having transferred from another academic institution, cannot apply for this program.
(b) The program admits outstanding candidates from among the applicants. The final decision regarding the admission of applicants to the program takes place at the end of the first year, after the grades of the second examination period have been received.
2 Curriculum
2.1 LL.B. Studies
Students in the combined program will attend, in addition to the regular LL.B. curriculum, the following courses:
(a) Second year: elective courses for 4 credits (from the third year course requirements).
(b) Third year: elective courses in Jewish law for 4 credits and an additional seminar (from the fourth year course and seminar requirements).
(c) Fourth year: completion of course requirements for the LL.B. during the first semester.
2.2 LL.M. Studies
(a) LL.M. studies will take place in the course of two semesters during the fourth year of study.
(b) Course requirements for LL.M. include 32 credits over the entire academic year (a mandatory seminar called "Interdisciplinary Workshop for Advanced Students," two research seminars for 8 credits, and 22 credits of elective courses).
(c) Students cannot take more than 26 credits in the first semester of the fourth year, including the courses they attend in order to complete their LL.B. studies.
(d) Students will take at least 12 credits of elective courses in the course of the second semester.
3 Students in the combined program are exempt from English and from basic studies for the LL.M. degree.
4 In the course of the first three years it is not possible to attend courses from the LL.M. program, but students can complete the LL.B. course requirements earlier. LL.M. courses attended during the first three years of study will not receive credit.
5 LL.M. studies will take place during the fourth year of study. It is not possible to complete the program and all the requirements for the LL.M. degree in the course of the first semester of the fourth year.
6 To continue in this program, students must maintain a grade point average of at least 85 during the first three years of study toward the LL.B. degree. The students' grade point average is checked at the end of each year, and the Faculty of Law can remove students who have not met this condition.
7 To complete their studies in this program, students must achieve a grade of at least 75 in all the course requirements for the LL.M. program.
8 Students in the program are not entitled to transfer to the LL.M. program that requires the writing of a thesis.
9 Students participating in the program are entitled to receive the LL.B. certification at the end of the first semester of the fourth year, subject to their completion of all the LL.B. requirements.
