Tager Family Jewish Law Program
ROMIE TAGER QC’s biography
Romie Tager QC is a leading barrister from England, specialising in commercial and property law. He is a trustee of Bar Ilan and for a number of years he has been engaged in promoting the Law Faculty’s research and publications in the area of Jewish Law and Religion.
In 1995 he was appointed a Queen’s Counsel as a mark of his professional distinction. Together with a number of colleagues in 2002 he formed a specialist set of barristers chambers, Selborne Chambers, of which he is still the head and which is recognised as one of the most prominent sets specialising in property law.
In recent years Romie and Esther have promoted a number of publications by Bar Ilan’s Law Faculty, including HaDin ve HaDayan (“The Law and its Decisor”), which publishes Rabbinical Courts’ decisions in family law cases. Last year Mr Tager established an ambitious programme at the Law Faculty in Jewish Law and its interrelation with religion in the context of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state. It will include the publication of a bi-annual Journal in Jewish Law and Religion and an annual international conference that will focus on the areas of Jewish law and ethics that are relevant to modern society.
