LL.B. Degree

LL.B. studies are conducted in an expanded track lasting three years and one additional semester. The objective of the program is to provide students with legal education. Students who complete the program earn an LL.B. degree.
The university statutes and the degree requirements are posted at the university's site at http://www.biu.ac.il/, and are listed in the university's information brochure available at the Academon store.


1. Registration Requirements


1.1 Registration to the Faculty of Law takes place at the same time as regular registration to the university.


1.2 Only applicants who meet at least one of the following conditions can apply to the Faculty of Law:
(a) Holders of an Israeli matriculation certificate (bagrut) with an average grade of at least 90.
(b) Holders of a B.A. degree from a certified Israeli university with an average grade of at  least  80.
(c) Holders of foreign diplomas with average grades that are equivalent to those specified above.


1.3 (a) All applicants, including holders of academic degrees, must take the psychometric exam no later than April of the year in which they apply.
(b) Applicants with foreign diplomas can submit valid grades for the LSAT or SAT examinations.


1.4 Applicants must submit all the documents and transcripts to the Admissions Office within the period of registration. Holders of academic degrees are asked to submit two copies of their transcript.


1.5 The Admissions Committee is entitled to extend the period of registration specified in this sections in special circumstances.


1.6 Special applications will not be considered without authorization of the Admissions Committee.


2 Admission Requirements
2.1 Holders of Israeli Matriculation Certificates
Applicants with the highest accomplishments in the registration requirements listed above shall be admitted to the Faculty of Law. The level of accomplishment is determined by automated weighting of the following components:
(a) Average grade of the matriculation certificate
(b) The grades of the psychometric exam
Admission and rejection are carried out automatically, based on the criteria listed above.


2.2 Holders of Academic Degrees
Applicants with the highest accomplishments in the registration requirements listed above shall be admitted to the Faculty of Law. The level of accomplishment is determined by automated weighting of the following components:
(a) The grades of the academic degree and in the subject of specialization
(b) The grades of the psychometric exam
Academic study that did not earn the applicant a degree shall not be recognized in the admissions process.


2.3 Holders of Foreign Diplomas
Applicants with the highest accomplishments in the registration requirements listed above shall be admitted to the Faculty of Law. The level of accomplishment is determined by automated weighting of the following components:
(a) The grades of the matriculation examination or academic grades, or equivalent foreign certificates
(b) The grades of the psychometric exam or valid grades for the LSAT or SAT examinations
Admission of candidates is at the discretion of the Faculty's Admissions Committee for the LL.B. degree.


2.4 Notification of Admission
Candidates admitted to the Faculty of Law will receive notification of admission from the Admissions Office. The admissions process receives final approval only after the candidate who was admitted confirms enrollment in writing with the office of the Faculty of Law within the required period of time.


2.5 The Faculty of Law does not admit students outside the official period for admissions.


2.6 The Faculty of Law does not admit part-time students.
